According to a report from the research firm Gearburn, MediaTek is no longer interested in producing high-performance chipsets for mobile devices. The reasons for this decision are not called. This is probably due to the fact that the flagship chips MediaTek significantly inferior to competitors from Qualcomm, Samsung and Huawei. Moreover, this year only one device with a ten-core Helio X30 - Meizu Pro 7 Plus.

MediaTek's general director for international sales Finbarr Moynihan said that they stop focusing on flagship solutions and from now on they are heading for the mid-price segment. It is the chips of this class, such as Helio P20 and the rest of the line, are most in demand among manufacturers. This year Helio P25 was one of the most popular solutions from MediaTek.

Experts do not rule out that after a while the company may start releasing flagship processors again, but expecting the release of the same Helio X40 in 2018 is clearly not worth it.
