The national program to deploy a full-scale production of computer memory in China is extremely worrisome for all market participants. If successful, the incomes of current leaders - Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron - can be reduced to a very low level. To prevent or inhibit the birth of China's national industry for the production of DRAM (and 3D NAND) chips can only be by blocking the cooperation of Chinese with Taiwanese companies and preventing the transfer of technology to the mainland. In this case, Chinese companies will have to go to various tricks, because there will be no legal access to technology.

One of the proven ways to gain access to advanced development is the recruitment of qualified personnel from leading companies. Often happens that together with the luggage of knowledge and experience in the head, cadres take with them the firm's operating time, after which the company of a new employer quickly enters the market with new products. As a rule, such cases are investigated, but you can get off fine and continue doing what can not be done. Is it any wonder that the company Micron in the spring of this year at a sufficiently high level banned more than a hundred of its former employees in Taiwan to get a job in the profile of Chinese companies? But it did not stop there.

This Wednesday it became known that the District Prosecutor's Office of Taichung City (Central Taiwan) issued a bill of indictment on the actions of UMC and three of its employees by the names of Ho, Wang and Rong (Ho, Wang and Rong). The company and employees violated the Copyright Law and the Law on Professional Secrecy. The defendants illegally received Micron's memory technology and handed over to UMC to deploy the business in China.

Citizens Ho and Wang copied the data and passed them to a UMC employee named Ron. The latter finalized the technological process and, when in February this year the prosecutor's office came with a search to the UMC development center in Taiwan, gave two other accused the team to destroy the traces on digital media. The former employees of Micron Ho and Wang worked, respectively, as section chief and deputy director for production. In the UMC company, the first headed the development department, and the second became the chief component technologist. Both of them claim to have taken Micron's data for personal research.

It remains to be recalled that UMC became a partner of one of the three largest (in the long term) memory manufacturers in China. This joint venture of Fujian Jin Hua Integrated Circuit of UMC and Jin Hua. For this plant UMC undertook to develop the technology of memory DRAM. So far, as we see, the development did not work out. By the way, the Taiwanese company SPIL should become a partner of the UMC packaging factory. To her by the government of Taiwan, too, there are questions. We are waiting for them to be asked. To the full extent of the law.
