Cyberpolitics exposed scammers who robbed Ukrainians through the Internet

In Vinnytsia region, the police exposed a group of scammers who, through the Internet, deceived people across the country, the press service of the Vinnytsia region police.

As the press service informed, the employees of the department of cyberpolitics together with the investigators of the criminal investigation department exposed the group of persons aged 18 to 25 who fraudulently appropriated funds of residents of different regions of Ukraine.

According to police, the criminal group consisted of several people, all - previously convicted residents of the city of Vinnitsa. Within three years the attackers created so-called phishing sites.



"The victims on these sites entered personal data of bank accounts, but no payment occurred, while funds from their accounts were written off and credited through various payment systems to the bank accounts that had been opened beforehand. Such sites were visited daily by about one hundred users, "law-enforcers.

Now, according to the police, the question of declaring suspicion to all participants of a criminal group. The pre-trial investigation is continuing within the framework of the criminal proceedings initiated. 3 items. 190 (fraud) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

The department added that at present the police determine the number of victims and the amount of damage.
