Gartner increases the forecast for the IT market

Analysts Gartner increased the forecast for the information technology market due to the weakening of the dollar against other currencies. The fastest growing segment of the industry researchers call corporate software.

According to the expectations of Gartner, global IT spending in 2017 will reach 3.5 trillion dollars, which is 2.4% more than a year ago. Earlier, experts forecast growth at 1.4%.

"Digital business has a profound impact on how the activities are carried out and how it is supported," said John-David Lovelock, vice president of research at Gartner,. - The impact of digital business generates new categories, such as the integration of software, services and intellectual property. The development of such solutions of the new generation is spurred by companies and technology platforms, which will be the drivers of growth in new categories. Advanced technologies that exert a strong influence on the market include "Internet of things" in production, blocking in financial services and "smart" equipment in retail. The main focus is on how these technologies produce a revolution and stimulate business ".

According to analysts' forecasts, in 2017 global sales of corporate software will increase by 7.6% (to $ 351 billion), and this segment of the IT industry will be the fastest growing, as software allows an increasing number of companies to receive revenues from digital business channels. In this regard, the software market will be a growing need for automation and the release of new applications and functions, noted in Gartner.

The report also says that in 2017 IT services costs in the world will rise by 4.7% (up to 922 billion dollars). Demand for communication services will increase by 0.3%, which in monetary terms will correspond to 1.38 trillion dollars. In the segment of equipment for data centers, minimal growth is expected - by 0.3%, to 171 billion dollars.



Sales of electronics, including computers, tablets, laptops and mobile phones, in 2017 will grow by 3.8%, reaching 654 billion dollars. Before, analysts predicted a 1.7 percent rise. According to them, the market will grow thanks to the increase in average selling prices for premium smartphones in developed markets after the release of the new iPhone, as well as by increasing the number of smartphones in the total volume of the mobile phone market. Sales of tablets will continue to decline due to increased use of this equipment.
