According to the forecast of the research company IC Insights, in 2017 the global electronics market will grow by 2%, and in monetary terms its volume will reach 1.49 trillion dollars. At the same time, experts predict a 15 per cent rise in the global semiconductor market - revenue this year should exceed $ 419 billion. Moreover, in 2021, sales of semiconductor products will bring already more than $ 500 billion.

If the estimate turns out to be correct, then the ratio reflecting the value of semiconductor products in the released electronic devices this year will reach a historic maximum of 28.1%, experts say..

Experts note that the trend towards an increase in the share of semiconductors in the cost of electronics can be traced over the past 30 years, but in 2017, there will be a jump that is associated with a rise in price of DRAM and NAND flash.

Ascending dynamics are forecasted in the future. In 2018, the cost of semiconductors in electronics in percentage terms will increase to 28.9%, and in a year will reach 29.5%. After a small drawdown in 2020, to 28.6%, the figure will again rise to 28.9% in 2021.

Earlier Gartner analysts also predicted a significant growth of the semiconductor market in the current year. According to their estimates, global sales of microchips will bring 401.4 billion dollars, which is 16.8% more than in 2016.
