Confidentiality in the Windows 10 system from the first day of its appearance was a controversial issue. Telemetry is regarded by many as spying on users. Recently, the French regulator reported that Microsoft has met the requirements and halved data collection.

Earlier this year, the company launched a privacy panel, where the user is offered more control over their data in Windows 10. In view of the ever-increasing threat from extortion applications and data theft, the company is now constantly recalling the need to check the privacy settings.

Since the beginning of July, Microsoft began sending notifications to users who did not upgrade to Windows 10 Creators Update. These notifications invite you to check your privacy settings, which reminds you of notifications from the Get Windows 10 application. You can reject the notification up to five times, after which the final notification will ask you to confirm the settings. The developers claim that it takes only a few seconds.

Microsoft claims that users will not be forced to upgrade to Creators Update after confirming the privacy settings, even if the computer is recognized as suitable for updating. If the device is running on a system whose support is terminated, users will be notified of the need to update to the latest version, at this time it's Creators Update. Now the support for the original version of Windows 10 1507 editions of Home / Pro / Education / Enterprise. Regarding frequency of occurrence of similar offers the company does not say.
