Apple does not plan to release the next generation of tablets iPad mini. This is reported by BGR with reference to sources close to the company. In Cupertino will give up the line of compact tablets in favor of a new model iPad with a 10.5-inch screen.

IPad mini 4, debuted in the fall of 2015, will be the last such gadget. In the near future the company from Cupertino will completely stop the production and sale of the model. It is reported that Apple is dissatisfied with the demand for the device, so intends to close this direction.

For a while, the iPad was the second most popular device among Apple products after the iPhone. But even during the peak of their popularity, they brought the company twice as less profit than smartphones. Reducing the demand for the iPad mini is expected in the future, since the success of the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 6s Plus. 5.5-inch Apple smartphones successfully took the place of compact tablets in the product line.

Apple introduced the fourth-generation iPad mini in the fall of 2015. In the slim body of the "minicar" is placed everything that users liked in the iPad. Its thickness is only 6.1 mm against 7.5 mm in its predecessor. 7.

9-inch screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels is covered with a special anti-reflective coating, which reduces the amount of reflected light by 56%.

The iPad mini 4 includes an A8 processor with 64-bit second-generation architecture. This is the only compact model in the Apple tablet lineup.

If you believe the computations of the publication, this year Apple decided not to update the iPad mini and focus on the new model of the iPad Pro with a diagonal of 10.5 inches. Due to the thinner frames of the screen, the dimensions of the latter will be close to the dimensions of the iPad Pro 9,7.
