Security Professionals Charlie Miller and Chris Valasek, known for demonstrating vulnerabilities in modern cars, published publicly available all their findings, including various tools, data, research and other documents. According to experts, the cost of the archive is estimated at more than $ 1 million.

In July 2015, Miller and Valasek exploited a vulnerability in the on-board computer of Fiat Chrysler cars, allowing remote interception of machine control. Specialists managed to use the smartphone and laptop with wireless Wi-Fi connection to take control of the on-board computer of the Jeep Cherokee. Then Fiat Chrysler was forced to recall 1.4 million cars.

A year later, the researchers repeated the experiment and once again demonstrated how hackers can gain control of the Jeep Cherokee 2014 year of release. All that was needed for the experts is a laptop connected through the port under the dashboard of the car to the network of controllers (CAN).

Last year at the Black Hat 2016 conference Miller and Valasek presented their latest work in the field of car safety and announced that they would no longer be engaged in this field of research.
