NASA astronaut Peggy Whitson, who is currently on board the ISS, set a new record for being in space. As reported on the agency's website, April 24 ended the fifth month of the stay of Whitson on the ISS during this mission. In total, the astronaut spent 534 days in space and her stay at the station continues.

On account of Whitson and some other records that she established while on the service in NASA. So, in 2008 she became the first woman - commander of the ISS crew, and on April 9 of this year - the first woman to command the station twice.

The current stay on the ISS was for Whitson the third long mission at the station, and in March this year it was extended until September. After returning to Earth, Whitson's total time in space will be 650 days.

She also spent several decades helping to manage flights from Earth.

In May last year, NASA astronauts deployed to the ISS experimental inflatable module ВEAM, intended for the residence of the crew members of the station. It is planned that tests of BEAM will be conducted for a minimum of two years. During this time, astronauts will appreciate its ability to protect against radiation, keep temperature, and also resist the impacts of micrometeorites, the action of dust and other factors of the space environment.
