Japan has for many years occupied a leading place in the list of countries with the longest life expectancy, but now it is ahead of Iceland, which in recent years has demonstrated amazing indicators. In the rest of the world, with the exception of some African countries, life expectancy is also on the rise. Such data are quoted by the World Health Organization (WHO).

According to the Organization, people born in 2012 will live on average 71 years (girls - 73 years, boys - 68 years). Thus, over the past 22 years, the average life expectancy on Earth has increased by 6 years. This is shown by the comparative data of 2012 and 1990. Among women, Japanese women continue to lead in life expectancy, whose average age is 87 years. However, among the men in the first place came the Icelanders, the average age of which is 81 years. Following the leaders are countries such as Switzerland, Singapore and Israel.

One of the main reasons for the high level of life expectancy is quality medicine, capable of dealing with such contemporary challenges as oncology, strokes and heart disease. Cancer treatment in Israel has played an important role for this country in the issue of increasing life expectancy. Today, people from all over the world are coming to Israel to treat oncological diseases, which indicates a high level of clinics.

An important role for life expectancy is played by the average per capita income in a given country. So in countries belonging to advanced economies, where the average income of a population is high, life expectancy is 16 years longer than in emerging economies. This indicator is 76 years for developed countries and 60 for developing countries, to which, unfortunately, Russia. The reasons for this phenomenon are several.

In developed countries, serious attention is paid to preventive medicine, the methods of which are able to identify a number of dangerous diseases in the early stages.

In addition, developed societies are actively fighting tobacco and alcoholism, are encouraged, including at work, physical education and sports. Nevertheless, not everything depends on the level of society and medicine. So, immediately in 22 countries in Africa, low living standards are determined by the numerous fatal infections. But even there, a significant contribution to low rates is made by diseases of the cardiovascular and nervous systems.
