Dairy products have their pluses and minuses: being a rich source of calcium and protein, they can contain too much fat.

When it comes to linking dairy products to cancer incidence, scientists can not come to a consensus.

A new study published in the pages of the journal Current Developments in Nutrition, accuses popular English cheddar cheese and cream (soft) cheeses in increasing the incidence of breast cancer.

On the other hand, eating large amounts of yogurt can protect against a deadly disease.

The study was organized by members of the Cancer Prevention and Control Unit at the Roswell Park Cancer Institute (Buffalo, New York). Supervised by the project, Dr. Susan McCann (Susan McCann).

Breast cancer is the most common oncological disease in women, second only to skin cancer. In the United States in 2017 is expected to 252 thousand new cases of breast cancer and 40 thousand deaths.

Today it is reliably known that the nutrition of a woman plays an important role in the development of breast cancer.

Recently, the publication Medical News Today reported that malnutrition in adolescence affects the incidence of breast cancer decades later, in the menopause.

Although some dairy products have long deserved fame, on the whole science can not draw definitive conclusions about their connection with chronic diseases, including cancer. Some scientists say about the exceptional harm of cheeses and other "milk", the latter say the opposite.

Entanglement and ambiguity is quite understandable, because dairy products - a complex mixture of nutrients, and often poorly understood synthetic additives "identical to natural".

Cheddar and cream cheese increase the risk of breast cancer by 53%.

In the course of the latest work, Dr. McKen and her colleagues analyzed a vast array of Roswell Park Data Bank and BioRepository data, including a 1941 patient with breast cancer and 1,237 healthy women.

All women, when applying to the institute, filled in the questionnaires, which indicated the features of nutrition, including their attitude to dairy products - cheese, yoghurt, milk. Also in the hands of the authors were information about age, body weight, family history and other potentially significant factors.

The analysis showed that the consumption of a large amount of cheese - in particular cheddar cheese and soft cheeses - is associated with an increase in the risk of breast cancer by 53%.

Yogurt had the opposite effect - lovers of this product suffered from cancer by 39% less frequently than others.

Perhaps the reason for the high content of fats or some biologically active substances.

"The reasons for this connection are still unclear, and this issue will be given to our followers. Nevertheless, our work allows us to say that dairy products are a new potential risk factor for oncological diseases, "Dr. McKen said in a recent interview.

In conclusion, let us cite a scientific fact: nutrition is responsible for 30% of all cancers in the world.

It remains to understand that you can eat and in what quantities.
