Trying to reduce discomfort, many pregnant women neglect seat belts while driving cars. But this is a mistake. The results of the new study indicate that among pregnant women who have been in a car crash and who did not use seat belts, the number of unfavorable outcomes, including the intrauterine death of the child, was significantly higher.

This study was conducted at the University of Utah (University of Utah). "This is the first such kind of study," says Lisa K. Hyde (Lisa K. Hyde), Project Manager. Together, several indicators were collected to analyze the relationship between car accidents, fertility and intrauterine mortality. According to Lisa Hyde: - "These studies will allow you to have full information about the frequency of pregnancy complications in car accidents".

This study, the results of which were reported in the August issue of Obstetrics and Gynecology, are based on an analysis of observations conducted from 1992 to 1999. The study included a variety of cases of pregnancy disorders, including low birth weight, premature pregnancy, placental abruption and intrauterine fetal death.

About 3% of pregnant women fall into car accidents. Future mothers, who were wearing seat belts during crashes, had similar rates of unwanted pregnancy outcomes as pregnant women who did not get involved in car accidents at all. Not using the same seat belts by 30% increases the likelihood of complications of pregnancy, for example, the birth of a child with a small weight. Moreover, in pregnant women who were not fastened at the time of the accident in 2. 1 and 2.

8 times more frequent uterine bleeding and intrauterine death of the fetus, respectively.

According to Lisa Hyde: - "Utah has a very high birth rate and it is possible that in other states the frequency of getting pregnant women into car incidents is lower. However, despite this our results can be reliably projected to different regions. This study obviously proves the need for using seat belts during pregnancy ".
