According to the US Federal Drug Control Agency (FDA), women of childbearing age should limit their consumption of tuna. This fish contains a significant amount of mercury.

Pregnant women, nursing mothers and children should limit consumption of tuna and some other varieties of fish and shellfish 340 grams per week.

Earlier, the FDA warned pregnant women against excessive obsession with dishes from sharks, swordfish and royal mackerel.

Experts testify that the greatest amount of lead is contained in fresh tuna, slightly less than in canned fish from this fish. A fully safe dose of tuna is 170 grams per week.
