However, the Russian law "On the Protection of Consumer Rights" establishes mandatory marking of GM products. It's impossible to detect fraud yourself. The newly created National Association of Genetic Safety intends to fight for the "genetic purity" of food products.

To Russia, tons of unmarked transgenic products are delivered daily. Even if the mark "GM" is present on the package, it is usually invisible, and more often it is generally conspired with the code name "vegetable" or "soy protein".

According to the Ministry of Health of Russia, today 59 genetically modified food products have been officially registered in the country, among them drinks and cocktails, food additives, products for athletes, ice cream.
