Recent research has shown that this hormone, most known as an agent for the treatment of diabetes mellitus, is able to stop or reduce the formation of scar tissue. It is also believed that insulin is able to accelerate the healing of even old scars.

According to The Daily Mail, every year more than six million people make operations in the UK, many of which remain "remembered" by disfiguring scars, which then become the cause of depression. In addition, the fibrous tissue formed on the wound site is worse than normal skin in quality.

It is less elastic, less resistant to ultraviolet radiation, has no sweat glands and hair follicles. Therefore, the skin at the site of the scar can always remain tender, which makes it touch painful.

The prevention or reduction of the formation of scar tissue has become the subject of many studies, and one of the latest approaches is to use insulin. During the testing it was proved: when insulin is administered, there is much less scarring.

Another series of tests at the University of California revealed that cuts that were treated with insulin, healed faster. In the case of injections of this hormone, healing took place 2.4 days faster than in the case of wound treatment with another solution (saline water solution). And one woman with a deep old scar on her arm was given several injections of insulin. As a result, after 82 days of daily injections, there was not a trace left of the scar.
