People who are overweight in middle age are at risk of health problems in the future, say Finnish researchers.

The study involved more than 1,000 men. It turned out that the highest risk of death was for those who gained weight at the age of about 40 years and lost it in old age. Perhaps the risk of cardiovascular disease in full men in middle age is significantly increased, even if there are no prerequisites and manifestations of the disease at that time. The study was published in the European Heart Journal.

According to experts, obesity is a known risk factor for the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases.

But as it would not be paradoxical, it turned out that the elderly who gained weight more than the norm in old age were at a lower risk of heart disease than those whose weight in the elderly was normal, but there was excess weight in Middle age. In the study, scientists observed the health status of men aged 25 to 70 years.

This study underscores the importance of maintaining optimal weight throughout life to prevent the occurrence of cardiovascular diseases, say researchers.
