Deep electrostimulation of the brain is a promising therapy in the treatment of epilepsy, according to American researchers at Stanford University, according to an online edition for girls and women aged 14 to 35 years Pannochka. Net Scientists have conducted a study in which 110 patients with epilepsy inserted electrodes into the brain to stimulate and fix epileptic seizures. As a result, forty-one patients experienced improvements and a reduction in the number of seizures after 13 months. 56% of subjects noticed improvement after two years.

All patients who participated in the experiment suffered epileptic seizures and did not respond to drug treatment. Deep brain stimulation is a surgical intervention, as a result of which electrodes are introduced into the brain through which electrical impulses are applied to certain areas of the brain.

In a group of patients who underwent brain stimulation, scientists noted improvements in 41% of participants, compared with 14% in the control group that did not use this method of treatment, the BBC.
