Astrophotographer Bing Xin presented a fascinating mosaic that combines all 313 objects from the Sharpless catalogue, a host of highly tempting cosmic nebulae. This robot, created over a period of about 800 years with care, allows me to look into the depths of the Universe and discover the variety of space objects.
What is the Sharpless catalog?
The Sharpless catalog, collected by the American astronomer Stuart Sharpless in the 1950s, reveals the overflow of H II regions - regions of ionized water, where new stars are actively being formed. However, as a new mosaic is demonstrated, the catalog covers a significantly wider range of objects. Here you can see not only the H II region, but also planetary nebulae, a surplus of new stars and much more. Among the most famous objects that have reached this collection are the Eagle (Sh2-49), Heart (Sh2-190) and Orion (Sh2-281) nebulae..
Thousands of years in heaven for one masterpiece.
The creation of such a grandiose mosaic evoked incredible brilliance and mastery from Bing Xin. Warnings were carried out in the minds of the dark sky of China and Inner Mongolia. The astrophotographer used high-tech filters that allow you to capture light from ionized water and acid, as well as standard red-green-blue filters. The skin around the nebula image was visible for 2 to 6 years of exposure. Zagalom, the whole process took nearly 800 years of care, to complete this robot with a feat of excellence in the field of astrophotography.
