In particular, according to the results of observations, people who went to the sauna 4-7 times a week are 61% less likely to have a stroke than those who visited the sauna once a week or less, writes MedicalXpress.

As you know, a team of Finnish scientists analyzed the medical data of 1628 men and women aged 53 to 74 years, and identified the presence of risks of cardiovascular disease. The participants were divided into three groups: those who take the sauna once a week, 2-3 times a week and 4-7 times a week.

It turned out that those who used to be in the sauna more often had the least risks.

The relationship persisted even with the usual risk factors for stroke, such as age, sex, diabetes, body mass index, blood lipids, alcohol consumption, physical activity and socioeconomic status.

Scientists note that the study is observational and does not show a causal relationship between the sauna and a reduced risk of stroke. However, it is suggested that the mechanisms of a positive effect may include lowering blood pressure, stimulating the immune system, affecting the autonomic nervous system, and strengthening the cardiovascular function.
