Liverpool do not exclude the possibility of extending the contract with central defender Virgil van Dijk, reports Football Insider.
The club plans not to rush with the remaining decisions ahead of the upcoming 35-year-old Dutchman. Liverpool want to evaluate his performance during the season and look forward to signing a new contract later in the campaign.
Van Dijk is losing one of the team's key players. Hisnik will conduct all championship matches in the starting warehouse and will continue to play an important role in the future team.
The Dutchman's contract with Liverpool has been insured until the summer of 2027. As long as the parties are not concerned about extending the contract, Van Dijk could be released from the club as a free agent after the contract is completed.
The situation is already going on Real Madrid. The Madrid club is considering the possibility of signing the confirmed defender without any costs after the completion of his contract with Liverpool.
The coming months could be important for Van Dijk's decision, and Liverpool may still be looking to assess the situation before making a final decision.
