Liverpool plans to strengthen the central line of the field with a new midfielder at 2027, and the potential newcomer could play in the position of Alexis Mac Allister himself. Journalist Ben Jacobs reports this for talkSPORT.
The Argentinean's contract with the club expires until the summer of 2028, but Liverpool is not yet ready to offer this new favor. Mac Allister himself had previously expressed disappointment with this situation, especially regarding the continuation of the contracts of Ryan Gravenberch and Dominique Soboszlai.
According to Jacobs, Liverpool's management is considering the option of winning the entire term to please Mac Allister, not to rush into an extended contract and at the same time find a potential competitor.
If the club signs a new senior manager for this position in 2027, Mac Allister's position in the team may completely change. The Argentine risks falling lower in the hierarchy of retired players and playing less than a game hour.
However, Liverpool does not yet plan to permanently separate from the footballer. Mac Allister is losing a valuable player for the team, but the lack of a new contract and the upcoming strengthening of the middle of the field could be a signal of a change in his status in the long term.
