UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin stated that Russian clubs and national teams cannot be allowed to participate in international tournaments due to the war between Russia and Ukraine.

Behind the words of the functionary, after the start of a large-scale invasion, the organization recognized a significant political pressure. At the same time, Ceferin said that he does not support the situation if, through the decisions of sports policies, there is confusion on the part of athletes.

“It’s amazing to the singer that Russian athletes can’t compete anymore, but at the same time it’s simply impossible to praise anything else,” Ceferin said on the YouTube channels The Rest Is Politics: Leading and The Rest Is Football.

The head of UEFA also noted that, in his opinion, the majority of Russian athletes do not support war. At the same time, we have shown respect for those who suffer through the side of young football players who do not count a hundred years until the political decisions of their country.

" What is their fault in the fact that this lad started this greedy war, and under which the 17-Rich cannot take part in the youthful deeds? "

At the same time, the UEFA President clearly described the position of the mature Russian football. In his words, clubs and teams from Russia will not be able to return to the organization’s tournaments until the war ends.

" And as it stands, the war will not end,” Ceferin concluded.

It became clear earlier that Ceferin does not plan to challenge Infantino in the FIFA presidential elections.
