The match of the final round of the French Football Championship between Nantes and Toulouse was done before the line due to mass confusion.

The incident occurred in the first half for the 0:0 draw. Aggressively directed ultras of the canaries broke through the stewards' cordons and controlled chaos on the lawn. The reason for this demarche was the team's promotion to League 2 - the fans could not come to terms with the disastrous results of the current season.

This evening became the most painful and dramatic for the team’s head coach, 74-year-old Vahid Halilhodzic. The mentor, who had waited to embarrass the struggling team during the brutal season, did not dare to handle the situation and burst into tears right on the field.

For the proven Bosnian Fahivian this fight was special. He played the last match of his long coaching career before retiring. For Nanta Halilhodzic, she is a true living legend: she has played over a hundred matches for the club, and in 1983, she led the team to the championship in France.

During his long coaching career, he worked for the French teams Lille, Rennes, PSG, and also successfully competed with the national teams of Cote d'Ivoire, Morocco, Algeria and Japan.

Respecting the importance of safety, the head referee and the match delegates praised the only possible decision - the group will not be continued. Nantes has only 23 points in its assets and is in 17th place in the championship standings. Now, in addition to the sporting disappointment in the lower division, the Canaries will most likely face disciplinary and financial sanctions from local football authorities.
