Benfica officially announced the departure of Nicholas Otamendi. The Argentinean manager and captain of the team is expected to complete his stage with the Lisbon club after six seasons.
The statement to the club states that Otamendi will always be the butt of passion, self-sacrifice, professionalism and leadership skills. In an hour of playing at the Eagles' warehouse, the team won a championship title, a League Cup and two Super Cups.
Benfica also said that the footballer’s contributions go far beyond the limits of trophies. Zahisnik became an important part of the club's history and gained recognition among the fans as part of his allegiance to the team..
“Nicholas Otamendi has always been an example of passion, commitment, competence, leadership and professionalism,” reads the official statement to the club.
The Lisbonians chided the captain for his performance with the team and wished him success in the future.
