Lisbon Benfica is not immediately considering the option of extending the contract with head coach Jose Mourinho, due to the fact that it will continue until the summer of 2027.
The president of the club, Rui Costa, does not respect food as a priority at the moment. The Eagles plan to return to negotiations ahead of the successful results of the 2026/27 season.
Mourinho himself does not mind losing his job at the club and is showing renewed openness until the spirtration continues.
“If Benfica wants to extend the contract, I will also extend it without any restrictions,” said the coach.
The Portuguese coach turned to Benfica in the spring of 2025 - this is another period for the club after work in 2000.. Thus, the team under his leadership played 40 matches: 24 wins, 8 draws and 8 losses.
In the tournament table of the Portuguese Championship, Benfica is currently in third place, with 69 points and ahead of the leader at this point.
