On Tuesday, March 3, the Wolverhampton team met Liverpool at home.
In the first half, the “wolves”, one might say, successfully resisted their more famous opponent. However, Liverpool showed a lack of activity and aggression in attacking actions, which led to a boring first half.
As it turned out, the teams saved all the most exciting things for the final part of the match. In the 78th minute, Gomes unexpectedly sent the ball behind Alisson, opening the scoring.
Liverpool immediately went on the attack, and Salah, remembering his best moments, sent the ball into the top corner from the penalty area. Van Dijk could have secured victory for Liverpool, but Sa managed to parry the Dutchman's shot.
But in added time, Alisson had no chance to save his team - the ball ricocheted into the goal, and Wolverhampton celebrated an unexpected victory.
