For the first time in history, five clubs from the lower divisions of the country reached the quarterfinals - Phoenix-Mariupol, Bukovyna, Ingulets, Chernihiv and Lokomotiv Kiev. UPL represent Dynamo Kiev, Metalist 1925 and LNZ.
