The club from Genoa failed the start of the new campaign in the Italian Championship.
Genoa is planning to hire Alberto Gilardino as head coach, reports journalist Fabrizio Romano.
It appears that the 42-year-old Italian, who is contracted to the club until the end of 2026, will be replaced by Patrick Vieira. The first place is the work of the 48-river Frenchman - Strasbourg (Lipen 2023 - Lipen 2024, 38 matches).
Gilardino favors Genoa for 2022. Under his leadership, the “rossoblu” have already played 79 matches.
The team has already been eliminated from the Italian Cup, losing to Sampdoria in the 1/16 finals, and in Serie A they are 17th, with 10 points after 12 matches played..
Details of the potential interest of the Genoese from Vieira are not immediately available, but specialists may begin before the establishment of new bonds as soon as this year. Before Strasbourg, he also played in Crystal Palace, Nice, New York City and worked with Manchester City youth teams.
