Zaporozhye City Council in May voted for the creation of the municipal football club Metallurg Zaporozhye, despite the fact that in the Second League is already playing FC Metallurg from Zaporozhye.

The mayor of the city Vladimir Buriak previously stated that it is the municipal Metallurgist who will be the successor of the old club that went bankrupt in 2016.

On the eve of Metallurg, which is played exclusively by the natives of Zaporozhye, held the first home match in the amateur championship of Ukraine, beating Pervomaisk with a score of 1: 0.
