Striker Danny Newton got a chance to prove himself in the club of English League 2 Stevenage thanks to the Academy V9.

Newton became the first graduate of the Jamie Vardi V9 Academy, who will sign a professional contract, reports The Telegraph.. The 26-year-old striker will try his hand at Stephenage, playing in League 2.

In this season, Newton managed to combine work in the factory with performances for Amateur Tamworth. Danny scored 34 goals per season in the National League of the North.

The founder of the academy, Jamie Vardi, himself did not play football professionally until he was 25.

"When I found out that Danny had received an offer from Stevenage, I got goose bumps. He was one of the first players of our Academy. It seems that he is waiting for a trip, like my own, "- said Vardi.

Another five other players of the Academy were invited by professional clubs for pre-season training and can also get contracts.

Earlier this month, 42 football players lived and trained at Manchester City. They were divided into 3 teams of 14 people and worked with such trainers as Chris Ramsey, Alan Stubbs and Robbie Stockdale.
