Shakhtar Donetsk in a tense match of the 1/8 finals of the Ukrainian Cup lost Dynamo (1: 2) and flew out of the tournament.

The victory was brought to Kiev by a header from the central defender Denis Popov in the second extra-half.

The last time the Pitmen did not make it to the quarter finals of the national cup 14 years ago. In the 2005/06 season, Shakhtar lost to the Carpathians in the 1/8 finals (0: 1). The trophy in that draw won Dynamo.

This season, Dynamo, Vorskla, Ingulets, Minai, Desna, Mariupol, Alliance and Alexandria continue to claim the Cup.

The draw for the quarter-final stage will take place in December, and the matches in March 2020.
