If a person who undergoes a course of chemotherapy takes parallel physical activity, the effect of the procedure can be strengthened. This is reported by scientists at the University of Pennsylvania (USA). In the course of a scientific experiment, they found that a more positive result of treatment with chemotherapy was in those mice that were forced to run, according to an Internet publication for girls and women from 14 to 35 years old Pannochka. net Joseph Libonati, who led the study at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing, drew attention to the fact that the original purpose of their work was to find methods to prevent the negative effects of chemotherapy on the heart of a person, which often manifested during the application of doxorubicin. This tool effectively combats many types of cancer, but its main side effect is the destruction of the heart cells.

Libonati noted that when a person is threatened with death due to cancer, he is ready to do anything to save himself. But in cases where the victory over the disease has already been achieved, the patient has to face a number of other diseases that arose in the course of treatment.

During the experiment, four groups of mice were formed. The first two groups received doxorubicin, others - placebo. In this case, one of the groups taking the placebo, and another receiving the second drug, were subjected to physical exertion. These mice ran for 45 min, 5 days a week. Unfortunately, there was no positive effect on the heart.

However, experts noticed another, no less significant, thing. It turned out that in mice, who had been prescribed doxorubicin and the course of running, the tumor significantly decreased.

Scientists can not yet answer the question, by what mechanism does physical activity enhance the action of the antitumor drug. They suggest that a positive result is due to increased circulation, which allows more doxorubicin to reach a cancerous tumor.
