Williams the eldest defeated his younger sister for the first time since 2014. However, she did not win Serena in two sets since 2008.
Thus, Venus reduced the gap in the confrontation of the sisters - 12-17.
Note that for Serena tournament in Indian Wells was the first official tournament after returning to tennis. In September 2017, the sportswoman gave birth to a daughter, and in November she played a wedding.
