The first racket of Ukraine and the sixth racket of the world Ukrainian Elina Svitolina successfully started the tournament in Brisbane.
Our compatriot quite easily coped with the 40th racket of the WTA Spanish rankings Carlos Suarez Navarro. Svitolina won in two sets - 6: 2 and 6: 4. The meeting lasted only an hour and a half.
It should be noted that in the second round of the competition Svitolina will meet with Croatian tennis player Anoy Konyukh.
Another Ukrainian Katerina Bondarenko, who also took part in this tournament, was forced to leave the competition in the first round. Catherine lost in two sets to American Catherine Belis - 2: 6 and 5: 7.
