The UEFA Executive Committee decided to conduct an experiment with the fourth substitution in extra time, as well as an experiment with yellow and red cards for official representatives of teams in the technical area at the following tournaments.

Such decisions were approved at a meeting in Cardiff before the final of the Champions League among women.

The experiment will be held immediately at four tournaments: the European Women's 2017 Championships, the 2017 European Youth Championships, the 2017 European Women's Under-19 Championship and the European Championships 2017 among boys under 19.

It was also decided to continue the experiment with a new order of execution of penalty shoot-outs (the "ABBA system") in the finals of the European Championship among boys under 19 and the European Championship among girls under 19.
