On May 27, Yuri Baranov, a sergeant of the special forces police regiment, spent the last journey in Kharkov on May 27. The hero gave his life for the independence of Ukraine on May 23 in the Lipetsk direction.

It is reported by " During the rotation, the group of Yuri Baranov fell under the attack of enemy FPV thrones. Yuri remained to cover the departure of the counterparts - and gave his life to save others.

According to the commander of the unit, Sergei Shchebetun, Baranov was armed with an opposite gun. He managed to discover an enemy drone and made several shots, which warned other units about the threat. He himself could not avoid the explosion.

" His brothers in his arms were able to take it to a stabpunt. Unfortunately, there is no way to drive up there by the car. The doctors did not try to save his life for two hours, but did not come to consciousness Yuri, ”said Schebtun.

Yuri came to the police unit in 2023 - before that he had no military experience, he was civilian. But in a short time became an example of a real warrior. In 2024, he participated in the battles for the Toretsk in the Donetsk region, where he showed himself extremely brave. For heroism he was awarded the Golden Cross, as well as the distinction of the President of Ukraine for participating in the defense of the state.

Sergey Shchebetun recalls another heroic act of Yuri:

during the battle, when his commander was seriously wounded and almost lost his leg, it was Baranov who provided him first aid and helped to evacuate. Then Yuri himself received a contusion, he was treated for a long time, but after recovery he returned to the service again.

Yuri Baranov had a wife, an 11-year-old daughter and mother. He was 35 years old.
