On January 15, 2025, President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky signed a new law amending the current legislation on conscription and military service. This document is aimed at improving the organization of military registration of citizens, medical examination and the introduction of basic general military training (BVVP).
The new law does not provide for forced mobilization of citizens aged 18–25 years. If young people wish to join the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they can enter into a contract on a voluntary basis.
