Interior Minister Denis Monastyrsky confirmed that former MP Nadezhda Savchenko tried to get to Ukraine from Turkey with a fake COVID certificate.

There will be a tough reaction to such cases, the minister said during a meeting of the Verkhovna Rada.

When asked by the deputy of the Servant of the People faction Alexander Bakumov about countering counterfeit certificates, Monastyrsky replied that some of his former colleagues in the Rada use such certificates.

" Such cases will be recorded by law enforcement agencies.

There will be an extremely harsh reaction within the limits determined by the law, "

He added that there are more than 100 mobile teams operating across the country to verify certificates and identify forgeries..

On October 22, Savchenko and his sister tried to use fake certificates at the Boryspil airport. They were returning from Turkey.
