Greece ranks first in the NSCI international cybersecurity rating, which assesses the readiness of 160 countries to withstand online threats. Last year, the Czech Republic took second place, and Estonia closes the top three, which led the rating in 2018.

The national cybersecurity rating is annually compiled by the Estonian Academy of Electronic Governance e-Governance Academy. In addition to the rating of countries, this study describes various approaches and tools for ensuring cybersecurity that can be used by states.. The rating estimates countries according to 46 indicators, which are grouped into 3 groups: the quality of national cybersecurity legislation, the existence of companies or government bodies that are engaged in cybersecurity at the national level, and the development of mechanisms for business and government interaction in this area.

Greece over the 3 years of the rating’s existence improved its performance from a conditional 58% readiness to repel cyber attacks to 96%, mainly due to the improvement of national legislation and the creation of a special center to combat cyber threats, writes Europuls.

Ukraine lost Russia this year, taking 29th place. It is worth noting that our country is pulled to the bottom of the ranking by the military - the Ukrainian army is only 17% protected from cyber attacks, while, for example, the police are 100% protected, and the sphere of civic education is 89%.

Russia took 26th place in the ranking, being between Hungary and Belgium.

Since 2018, the EU has implemented a common package of measures for all member states to combat cyber crime and other threats on the Internet EU Cybersecurity Act. Thanks to him, for example, round-the-clock response centers for massive hacker attacks and other cyberthreats appeared, and EU member states committed themselves to ensure that online resources registered on their territory are safe and do not spread misinformation.
