Court of Appeal upholds verdict to Crimean ex-deputy Ganysh for treason

The court of appeal upheld the decision of the Dnieper district court of Kiev regarding the sentence of ex-deputy of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea Vasily Ganysh to 12 years in prison for treason.

This was announced on Thursday, January 30, the press service of the Office of the Attorney General. The report states that the prosecutor’s office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea upheld the appeal of Ganysh to 12 years in an appeal court.

It is noted that in March 2014, Ganysh participated in a meeting of the Crimean Rada, at which they made an illegal decision to hold a referendum on the status of the peninsula. It actually became the starting point for Russia's annexation of Ukrainian territory.
