The Verkhovna Rada has previously approved the bill on the abolition of the lawyer monopoly. For the draft law "

According to the explanatory note to the law, it aims at amending article 131-2, as well as eliminating subparagraph 11 of paragraph 16-1 of section XV "

It is assumed that the adoption of the law will help optimize the mechanism for obtaining professional legal assistance, and the purpose of the law is to ensure the right of everyone to receive professional legal assistance through the abolition of the legal monopoly on the provision of such assistance.



The current version of this constitutional provision provides that only a lawyer shall represent another person in court, in particular, protection against criminal charges.

Accordingly, it is proposed to remove from paragraph 131-2 a paragraph about cases for which there may be exceptions - when it comes to labor disputes, disputes regarding the protection of social rights, regarding elections and referenda, and also the representation of minors or minors.
