The law on criminal liability for illegal crossing of the state border came into force

In Ukraine, Law No. 2599-VIII came into force, which provides for criminal liability for crossing the border outside checkpoints in order to harm the interests of the state or the security forces from the aggressor country. Yesterday the document was published in the official parliamentary edition of the Voice of Ukraine, notes 112.

The imprisonment of up to 3 years was foreseen for crossing the state border with the aim of causing harm to the interests of the state or by a person banned from entering the territory of Ukraine, or by representatives of the armed forces or other law enforcement agencies of the aggressor state in any way outside the checkpoints, or without the necessary documents or according to documents with unreliable information.

If such a violation is committed repeatedly or by a group of persons, the punishment will be imprisonment for 3-5 years.. The same violation with the use of weapons entails imprisonment up to 8 years.

13 of the Law "On the legal status of foreigners and stateless persons", entry into Ukraine to a foreigner or stateless person may be prohibited to ensure national security or protect public order; to protect the health of residents of Ukraine; by giving a person knowingly false information or forged documents. Also - if the person violated the border crossing rules at the checkpoint or did not comply with the requirements of the border guards, if during the previous stay in Ukraine the foreigner did not comply with the court decision, or if the person illegally visited the temporarily occupied territory of the state.
