Counteraction to human trafficking has been and continues to be one of the priority areas for both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the state. Thanks to this, Ukraine improves the results of counteracting modern slavery and gradually withdraws from the risk group. This is reported in his article on the World Day of Combating Trafficking in Human Beings, People's Deputy of Ukraine Igor Kotvitsky.

"Trafficking in human beings and modern slavery is one of the most disgusting types of crimes in the modern world, with which it is necessary to fight ruthlessly. Over the years of Independence, about 160,000 Ukrainians became victims of human trafficking. Most often this happened when our compatriots went to work abroad. Moreover, forms of trafficking in persons, not related to sexual exploitation, are becoming increasingly widespread, in particular - labor exploitation, "the MP emphasizes..

In recent years, thanks to special attention from law enforcement agencies, close international cooperation in this sphere and serious responsibility for the crime, it has been gradually able to take control of the situation.

Igor Kotvitsky believes that the rate of exposure of the facts of human trafficking in Ukraine confirms the positive dynamics. According to him, in the first half of 2018 702 crimes in the sphere of human trafficking or other illegal transactions against a person.
