For 6 months of the current year in the Sverdlovsk Region, 4915 people have suffered from bites by animals, including 98 from wild animals. Cases of rabies in humans are not registered. However, laboratory studies confirmed rabies in two foxes and one raccoon dog, according to the department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Sverdlovsk region.

At present, rabies remains one of the most important problems in both health and veterinary medicine. Cases of this disease are spread all over the world and in the absence of preventive antirabic care in a sick person or animal in 100% is fatal.

Infection of humans and animals occurs by direct contact with the source of infection-a bite to a sick animal or the ingress of its saliva onto damaged skin. After penetrating the body, the rabies virus spreads through the nerve endings, affecting the entire nervous system.

"Recently, home and farm animals are becoming more involved in the epizootic process:

dogs, cats, horses, pigs, small and large cattle, which in turn increases the risk of infection of people. The greatest danger to humans is represented by foxes and neglected dogs.

All medical organizations, when addressing individuals affected by animal attacks, must immediately provide first aid to the victim: treat existing wounds and skin lesions, post-position prophylaxis with an antirabic vaccine. In case of dangerous localization of wounds (areas of the head, neck, hands, feet), an antirabic immunoglobulin.
