On the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation in the Palace of Students of the Law University there was a meeting of Kharkov's veteran activist.

May 8 Kharkiv Mayor Gennady Kernes took part in the celebrations for veterans of World War II.

"Our traditional meetings on such days, they are almost family ones - those who fought, who revived, who continues to live, who teaches us how to love and defend our Motherland by their example," Gennady Kernes addressed veterans at the beginning of the meeting.

"Ukrainian Kharkov today lives under a peaceful sky. On the Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation and on the eve of the Victory Day over Nazism in World War II, I join all Kharkiv citizens and thank you for the courage, for the heroic deed, for our life.

Health to you, God's grace, so that promptly solved those questions that you ask the authorities. You deserve help, support and care. I am sure that we will hold the coming Victory Day with dignity and amicability. Happy holiday, dear veterans, "- said the mayor of the city.

A concert was held at the Students' Palace for veterans, at which military songs were performed in the performance of Kharkiv musicians and People's Artist of Ukraine Vladimir Grishko.
