The Parliamentary Committee on the Amendment of the Constitution made a recommendation, Trend.

"This will provide an opportunity to learn sign language in schools, and government departments at some stage will need to involve employees who are able to communicate with communities (deaf-mutes - eds. ) "- quoted by local media representative of the language council of South Africa Sibusiso Nkosi.

According to the channel, fixing the status of the state language for sign language will require changes in the constitution of the country.

The discussion about the recognition of sign language by the state began in South Africa after a joint petition of several associations of deaf-mutes in 2007.

According to the document, millions of people in the country are deprived of the opportunity to receive goods and services because of the "impossibility of communication".

The first country to recognize the sign language as a state language is Uganda. Also among African countries sign language has been officially recognized by the authorities of Zimbabwe, in addition, the principle of "encouraging" the use of language is enshrined in the Constitution of Kenya.
