In Lisichansk, a gymnasium founded more than 100 years ago burned down due to enemy shelling

As a result of the shelling of the Russian military in Lisichansk, Luhansk region, a gymnasium built at the end of the 19th century burned down. This was announced by the head of the Luhansk OVA Serhiy Gaidai in Telegram.

" Burned for several hours. The fire completely destroyed more than a hundred-year-old architectural monument,"

According to him, the building is included in the ensemble of the Belgian architectural heritage of the city..

He also added that Lysychansk Gymnasium was considered one of the best educational institutions in the Lugansk region and throughout Ukraine..

One of the graduates of the gymnasium, Yana Goncharenko, noted: “It was built over 100 years ago by the Belgians. Included in the top 100 best schools in the country. Withstood two world wars and a battle for the city in 2014, but burned down due to animals without valuables in 2022”.



Sergei Gaidai assured that after Ukraine's victory in the war with the Russian Federation, the authorities will make every effort to restore the destroyed educational institution.

Earlier it became known that the invaders took more than two thousand unique exhibits from the museums of Mariupol to Donetsk.

Before that, the Minister of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko said that the cultural heritage of Ukraine is one of the main goals of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
