On the death of the director Maria Sahakyan, a film critic Andrei Plakhov said on Sunday in Facebook: "She was killed by cancer. It is impossible to believe in the death of a beautiful 37-year-old woman ".
Maria Sahakyan was born in Yerevan in 1980. In 1993, her family moved to Russia.
In 2003, she graduated from the directing department of VGIK, subsequently shot the films "Farewell", "Mayak", "It's not me," "Entropy," "Garlic, onions and peppers".
As Plakhov writes, Saakyan "filmed deeply personal films that reflected the experience of Armenian childhood and emigration to Russia. She did not make any commercial compromises, she was very demanding about the profession and herself ".
Sahakyan has five children.
