Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga believes that Ukraine can be an important component in ensuring European security, therefore regional alliances in the field of defense have great prospects, Suspilne quotes him as saying.. In addition, our state has already demonstrated its capabilities.

" We don’t want to be in the “gray zone”, to proceed from the logic of separation of spheres and a return to the “Yalt” format,” explains the minister. “Therefore, regional security alliances actually have great prospects.”.

Ukraine could enter into defense alliances, for example, with Turkey, which has “the largest fleet after the Russian Federation, the Bosphorus and the Dardanelles,” or with Norway, which borders the aggressor state and also has a strong defense industry and economy.

He is confident that such a format would be of interest not only to Oslo, but would also be able to stitch together the Black Sea-Baltic axis.

At the same time, the minister noted that new defense alliances will not be an alternative to old alliances. They are needed to strengthen security positions in order to obtain real effective security guarantees.
