Ukraine will receive the first tranche of a 90 billion euro loan from the European Union around the end of May or early June, said European Commissioner for Economy and Productivity Valdis Dombrovskis, Suspilne reports.. Although in Kyiv they expected to receive the money by the end of April. The politician explains that almost everything has already been agreed upon by the EU - only the amendment to the Multiannual Budget remains. It was he who was blocked by Hungary all this time.

“We are now working on the reform terms for this funding and the memorandum of understanding that underpins our macro-financial assistance program,” Dombrovskis said.. “We are working on the loan agreement, other documents, but in a sense, all this must be finalized at the appropriate time.”. Therefore, we should be able to distribute funds as planned at the end of May, at the beginning of June."

We will talk about both types of payments: both funds that go to military assistance and general budget support. The European Commissioner spoke in more detail: 28 billion euros will be allocated for armament in 2026, and another 17 billion for general support. He added that Ukraine has enough money to cover its financial needs until it receives the first tranche.

Let us remind you that from today Ukraine can resume operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline, which it had been repairing for some time after the Russian attack.. This decision paves the way for the EU to unblock a critical loan for Kyiv in the amount of 90 billion euros. In addition, now the issues of countries that previously poked a spoke in the wheels have been resolved: both Hungary and Slovakia promised not to block the loan this time.
